There are surely many examples of companies being too late with their commercial hiring.
I remember the generic-Premarin story, and part of the slow uptake of the knockoff drug (eventually approved via an NDA) was that it hit the market when HRT use was in decline due to concerns about its long-term risks.
In short, I do not see much of a parallel between Premarin and Botox other than the fact that both were well established brands.
