Lyrics
What a fool I was, what a dominated fool To think you were the earth and sky What a fool I was, what an addle-pated fool What a muddle-headed dolt was I!
No, my reverberating friend - You are not the beginning and the end
There'll be spring every year without you England still will be hear without you There'll be fruit on the tree and a shore by the sea There'll be crumpets and tea without you Art and music will thrive without you Somehow Keats will survive without you And there still will be rain On that plain down in Spain Even that will remain without you I can do Without you
You dear friend who talk so well You can go to Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire! They can still rule the land without you Windsor Castle will stand without you And without much ado, We can all muddle through without you
Without your pulling it the tide comes in Without your twirling it the earth can spin Without your pushing them the clouds roll by If they can do without you Ducky, so can I
I shall not feel alone without you I can stand on my own without you So go back in your shell I can do bloody well without---
BYYYY GEORGE I really did it I did it, I did it I said I'd a woman and indeed I did I knew that I could do it I knew it, I knew it I said I'd make a woman and succeed I did

Now, it’s entirely possible that Lerner and Loewe were themselves misogynistic jerks, and these songs were meant as appreciative bro-anthems. Maybe if they had been alive today, the music videos would have featured naked models on leashes. But more likely, they wrote these songs to humiliate Henry Higgins, to show the audience that he’s a jerk and they know it. http://time.com/3525216/my-fair-lady-1964/
The White House says President Trump has accepted an invitation to meet directly with North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un. South Korea’s National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong spoke with reporters Thursday night outside the White House after briefing officials on the recent talks between Seoul and Pyongyang, and said the meeting would take place within two months. No sitting U.S. president has ever met with a North Korean leader; Kim Jong-un has never met another sitting head of state. How an Alabama Town Is Fighting Against Cancerous & Toxic Coal Ash Dumping—No Thanks to Trump’s EPA
Published on Mar 9, 2018 by Democracy Now!
Residents of Uniontown, Alabama, have lived with the Arrowhead landfill, which is twice the size of New York’s Central Park, have protested shipments of toxic coal ash—the residual byproduct of burning coal—from a massive spill in Kingston, Tennessee, believed to be the largest coal ash disaster in U.S. history. For two years, nearly 4 million tons of coal ash was also shipped by rail from a mostly white Tennessee county to Uniontown. Coal ash contains toxins, including arsenic, mercury and boron, that can affect the nervous and reproductive systems and cause other health problems. According to the EPA, people living within a mile of unlined coal ash storage ponds have a one-in-50 risk of developing cancer. In 2013, some Uniontown residents filed a complaint under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. This week, the EPA dismissed the claim, saying there was “insufficient evidence.” We speak with Ben Eaton, vice president of Black Belt Citizens Fighting for Health and Justice and a resident of Uniontown, Alabama; and with Mustafa Santiago Ali, former head of the EPA’s environmental justice program. https://www.democracynow.org/2018/3/9/how_an_alabama_town_is_fighting_against[with embedded video, and transcript]
Toxic Coal Ash Being Dumped in Puerto Rico, Which Already Suffers Worst Drinking Water in the Nation
Published on Mar 9, 2018 by Democracy Now!
Even before Hurricane Maria struck the island nearly six months ago, the majority of Puerto Rico’s residents lived with water that violated health standards set by the U.S. law. Since the storm, residents say the situation has only gotten worse. Among the sources of potential water contamination are mountains of coal ash generated by a coal-fired power plant owned by a private company called AES. For years, residents have demanded the company stop dumping toxic coal ash into their community, saying the waste is poisonous to their health and the environment. We speak with Mekela Panditharatne, a lawyer with the Natural Resources Defense Council who just returned from the island and wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post headlined ”FEMA says most of Puerto Rico has potable water. That can’t be true.” https://www.democracynow.org/2018/3/9/toxic_coal_ash_being_dumped_in[with embedded video, and transcript]
Obits & Omits: Meet Some of the Women Overlooked by The New York Times Obituaries Section, Until Now
Published on Mar 9, 2018 by Democracy Now!
As the world marked International Women’s Day on Wednesday, The New York Times began a new project highlighting the lives of remarkable women who never had an obituary in the paper, until now. The list might surprise you. It includes the pioneering anti-lynching journalist Ida B. Wells; the writer and poet Sylvia Plath; Qiu Jin, who was known as China’s Joan of Arc; the groundbreaking photographer Diane Arbus; the woman who helped engineer the Brooklyn Bridge, Emily Warren Roebling; Charlotte Brontë, who wrote “Jane Eyre”; Henrietta Lacks, whose cells led to a medical revolution; and Ada Lovelace, who is considered to be the world’s first computer programmer. The New York Times is calling the project “Overlooked [ https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/obituaries/overlooked.html ],” and it is part of an effort to make up for the paper’s 167-year history of focusing largely on men—mostly white men—in the obituary pages. For more, watch our full interview with Amy Padnani, digital editor of obituaries at The New York Times, who came up with the idea of “Overlooked.” https://www.democracynow.org/2018/3/9/obits_omits_meet_some_of_the[with embedded video, and transcript]

Trump’s announcement of imminent meeting with North Korea’s Kim stuns the left who initially praise him and takes the Pentagon & Sec State Tillerson by total surprise. And before the GOP globalists can organize opposition to protecting our manufacturing base, Trump signs the order to the delight of 93% of GOP voters. Then, a South African farmer talks of the escalating attacks by night against white farmers as the Marxist govt pushes genocide but takes a “live free or die” stand. And, the former pastor of the Sutherland Springs church where 26 people were killed pushes back against baseless conspiracy theories that “nobody died”.

Statement from Vice President Mike Pence on North Korea
Issued on: March 9, 2018
North Korea’s desire to meet to discuss denuclearization – while suspending all ballistic missile and nuclear testing – is evidence that President Trump’s strategy to isolate the Kim regime is working. The North Koreans are coming to the table despite the United States making zero concessions and, in close coordination with our allies, we have consistently increased the pressure on the Kim regime. Our resolve is undeterred and our policy remains the same: all sanctions remain in place and the maximum pressure campaign will continue until North Korea takes concrete, permanent, and verifiable steps to end their nuclear program.

His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, literature, and religious studies. He was a prolific writer, though many of his works were not published until after his death. The central concept of analytical psychology is individuation—the psychological process of integrating the opposites, including the conscious with the unconscious, while still maintaining their relative autonomy. But this story is actually not that story. VICE goes inside the wild world of western Pennsylvania Democratic politics, where a party getting everything it wanted has led to chaos.

U.S. fails to keep pace with global tourism boom BERLIN (Reuters) - The United States is missing out on a global boom for tourism, hurt by a so-called Trump slump and currency exchange rates, travel industry experts said at a gathering in Berlin this week. While U.S. President Donald Trump maintains that the travel ban blocking visitors from nations including Iran, Libya and Syria is needed to protect the United States from Islamic militants, the bans have raised concerns over America’s image as a welcoming country, with data showing a decline in tourist numbers last year. International arrivals to the United States were down 4 percent in the first three quarters of 2017, Trump’s first year in office, according to the most recent data available from the United States. By comparison, international tourism arrivals worldwide in 2017 were up 7 percent, representing the strongest result in seven years, figures from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) show. The U.S. Should Not Be Subjecting Refugees To ‘Reverse’ Abortions “Federal and state governments are essentially offering patients up to the anti-abortion lobby for medical trials." The U.S. government is once again trying to use people of color for its medical experiments ? and once again, Americans aren’t paying enough attention. A January report revealed Trump administration members discussed interfering with a young woman of color’s abortion while she was in federal custody. According to VICE News, officials in the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) considered delaying a 17-year-old refugee’s abortion procedure and instead engaging in an experimental method to “reverse” the abortion ? a controversial practice that some anti-abortion advocates have campaigned for. The VICE report details the case of a young woman from El Salvador who was raped before being detained and then sought an abortion while in federal custody. After obtaining a judicial bypass, as required for minors in the state of Texas, the young woman took the first of two pills used in medical abortion procedures. This is when government officials discussed interrupting the second part of the medical procedure, according to a deposition that is part of an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit on behalf of the detained refugee. In a March 4, 2017, memo, then-acting ORR director Kenneth Tota instructed staff to take the young woman to a local hospital for examination. “If steps can be taken to preserve the life of the [unaccompanied alien child] and her unborn child, those steps should be taken,” Tota wrote. That very same day, according to VICE, the abortion clinic caring for the 17-year-old received an ORR email inquiring about the various drugs involved in the so-called “abortion reversal” procedure. Since October 2017, the Trump administration has tried to stop at least four young women ? Jane Does, as they’re anonymously referred to in court documents ? from seeking abortions through court injunctions and by delaying their access to care for several weeks. The January report revealed Scott Lloyd, an anti-abortion advocate and Trump appointee who became director of ORR in March 2017, personally visited one of these women in federal custody to convince her to continue her pregnancy. In addition, Lloyd “receives a spreadsheet every week containing information on every pregnant teen in ORR’s custody, including the fetus’s gestational age,” according to VICE, and if a young woman in custody seeks an abortion, ORR staff cannot assist in the process in any way unless he authorizes the procedure. Why? Because Lloyd believes allowing young women to access an abortion would force his office to “participate in violence against an innocent life.” [...] https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/opinion-sherman-abortion-reversal_us_5aa021a3e4b0e9381c14bc8b
Serena Williams: ‘Doctors Aren’t Listening’ So Black Women Are Dying “Unfortunately a lot of African-Americans and black people don’t have the same experience that I’ve had.” Serena Williams makes her return to professional tennis on Thursday, six months after suffering terrifying complications and nearly dying after giving birth to her daughter, Olympia. The tennis superstar is also speaking up about the need for improved maternal health care, particularly for black women. “Doctors aren’t listening to us, just to be quite frank,” she told the BBC after a tennis exhibition in New York City on Monday, noting that black women are three times more likely than white women to die during pregnancy or childbirth. “It may be time for women to be comfortable with having uncomfortable conversations.” Williams experienced a pulmonary embolism (blockage that occurs in the lungs) after giving birth via C-section. Because she had had blood clots before, the athlete knew what symptoms to look out for and alerted her doctor as to what was going on. Williams also knew which tests to request. “I was in a really fortunate situation where I know my body well, and I am who I am, and I told the doctor: ‘I don’t feel right, something’s wrong.’ She immediately listened,” Williams told BBC. “She was great. I had a wonderful, wonderful doctor.
