TD-SCDMA in China
<< How does the bankruptcy of Siemens phone division affect the implementation of TD-SCDMA in China? >>
It's a BenQ subsidiary formerly owned by Siemens that BenQ is declaring insolvent. I don't think it affects China's implementation of TD-SCDMA much at all. I didn't really expect BenQ to be much of a player in that sandbox to begin with. The ball is really being carried by CATT, Datang, Huawei, ZTE, the Commit consortium, China Putian (with Nokia), and others. Siemens had really driven their handset division into the ground long before BenQ took it over. I suspect that Nokia Siemens Networks will contribute on the infrastructure side once their JV formation is completed, but to what degree is hard to say.
One thing I'm curious about is whether Siemens transferred any UTRA TDD (TD-CDMA TD-SCDMA) IP to BenQ.
