Same way as P4 is just a x86 cpu with SSE2 extensions that are, BTW, absolutely required to run it faster than Athlon.

It's just wording. The word "extension" doesn't sound very solid, but it is representing a very crucial concept. Good "extension" may help to win a huge part of the market.
