I read your SI post; interesting thoughts. Capitalism has an amazing self-cleaning mechanism, and the US still seems to have the spirit of capitalism moreso than other countries (just from what I read). However, are you concerned that government intervention is preventing progress in correcting inefficiencies? I agree with you that MCI, Kmart, etc. should not have survived, and I think too much liquidity is to blame. I certainly frown on the bailout of failed airlines such as United and American, which is only serving to hamper efficient operations such as LUV and JBLU.
I am worried that we may end up like Japan if the government doesn't start letting the economy fix itself...
