Yes, I agree the outcome is still unclear. Just thought I'd voice the thoughts, so that others may keep them in mind if the momentum increases. Sometimes the issues that lead to remarkable changes are not evident to us, except in retrospect, unless we're willing to think along tangents or side tracks like this. Another such speculation is my wondering whether Intel may have (perhaps unwittingly) contractually bound itself not to introduce any 64-bit architecture other than Itanium for some critical period of time.

BTW, welcome back. Also, you had a post a few months ago where you gave figures that, when plugged into the yield calculator, would have given Intel's yields, when interpreted according to accompanying statements you made. Was that a test to see whether we were paying attention? :)

I never argue religion but I will say that A64 has yet to demonstrate the level of superiority you seem to think. This will take time to play out.

Technically, I completely agree. However, irrelevant:
Consider superiority of AMD-64 as a myth. As is Megahertz.
Not argueing religion here, just perception. K.
