Sorry about your losses. I have had many so I feel your pain. Owning the actual coin is where it's at. GBTC is good for swing and day trading. Buying the actual coin is by far a safer vehicle so why pay any premium at all for a risky investment like gbtc. This is why I risk little on it, but when I do, I buy when premium is low and sell when it's high.
