This could explain the delay in the shoot packs.
Someone said ben told them there was a meeting with Warwick, KBLB and the army. Could be the quality of the fiber didn't cut it.
Kim had to come up with a quality control program to appease the army and hopefully fix the issue going forward.

This is definitely one of the stranger PRs we've seen. Once again, more questions than answers.

I don't know why genetic drift is an issue this far into the process. It makes me wonder if Kim is trying to send sterile offspring to Vietnam, for security reasons. Regardless, it's better to catch it now than when commercialization has gone full bore. If the new Microbiologist kid was the one to catch this, than he's already paying off.

And also...

This could cause a delay in commercialization if the other parts of our commercialization plan fall into place earlier

Like everyone else, I think it's very peculiar wording. In my opinion, I think that Kim actually believes the Vietnam deal is imminent (whether it is or isn't) and he's trying to temper shareholder expectations for when actual commercial quantities will be coming out of Vietnam. Or else, why would the last half of that sentence exist?

This would be fine for me. I just want to see the road blocks lifted in Vietnam. I figured it would be a while before product would be flowing from there anyways. I don't think tons of silk need to be coming out of Vietnam for the share price to increase. The factory being built out would be validation enough for me.

"Our plan is to improve quality back to our target range before spooling up for mass production"

I am going to assume that at one time, they had the quality and consistency they wanted..but that is no longer the case..cross contamination occurred through sloppy handling of the worms..

frugality rearing its ugly head yet again?..

now the problem necessitates taking the time to breed the various strains up from square one..so the only harm that occurred is that there will be time wasted?..

"The efforts already underway to improve our testing and selective breeding should result in an improved process and more uniform final product."

well I thought we already had that..but fine..

can I assume that were it not for sloppy handling of worms, that quality and consistency would not be a problem?..

"This could cause a delay in commercialization if the other parts of our commercialization plan fall into place earlier."

I hope this doesn't mean that he is going to delay anything happening with Vietnam..or slow it down..because after given approval, kblb will still have to do a lot of setting up, fixing up, build outs, clearing, importing, buying, transporting, hiring, training, not to mention dealing with all the unexpected issues, delays etc..

if Vietnam is ready to rock and roll but kblb has to wait on the worms, so be it..

all in all, quite a hiccup...but at least we are aware of the situation and not sitting in darkness wondering when the lights will come on..
