You don't lose anything on a reverse split. Your amount of shares goes down, but the stock increases its value by the same factor. E.g., if you have 1k shares of a $2 stock and it does a 2:1 reverse split, you have 500 shares of a stock that is now $4 Your overall amount of investment is the same: $2,000.
