I know exactly what you meant, because I trade penny stocks since 1997, strictly based on charts, but, my experience tells me that in 90% of the cases, when the MA50 crosses the MA200, the stock already ran a lot, and, the run is at or near the top.
That's why I give much more importance to other indicators, like RSI, MACD, and, ADX.
