Excel, in your post about the possible effect of a newbie innocently believing a post and buying - or selling - upon reading it, I can see that in two ways: the newbie has learned an important lesson in investing and the value of doing his DD, and:
what is the poster's responsibility to those who are reading his post in terms of what effect it may have on their investments. In former days, this board used to have postings of a good deeal of sources that stock newcomers could use to research for their DD. That has disappeared without a whimper, nary a note of caution that the newbies might be misled by reading the unadorned thoughts of those herein assembled. At this stage of the game, there is so much more information available which you have listed at the head of the board that it is impossible to get to the board without reading the referenced listings. I agree that no one wants to see anyone make an error, but I, frankly, don't know how to prevent it in face of the above. Most speculative articles here are either labelled as such, or "I think" or "It may be" or "IMO", etc.
We simply cannot help it if someone reads it, treats it as the gospel truth, and runs with it. Rob
