They can sell the new ANDA for cash. Have to be careful because that would also mean a new competitor for this drug. This is called the Chicago Cubs effect. Any nonperforming .220 hitting scrub playing for the Cubs becomes an All-Star and hits .300 immediately upon being traded to any Division rival.
