If that is the one I already read, it has nothing major or really new in the patent claim, in fact like I said before I and many others were doing what was in that claim in the 1990s.

Putting the word nano in means nothing. Nano chemistry was invented in the dark ages. Did you look at the history of Origin Oil and Ecosphere (Esph) both are public firms, I Think Origin changed its name LOL, but they both had real cutting edge waste water treatment and separation tech and Halliburton put the hurt on Ecosphere and then the gold rush of drilling put the big hurt on Ecoshpere, and Origin never could do anything but pilot plant demos and print shares. Funny part was Origin gave up on algae oil separation after 6 years and claimed they were going to tap the dead waste water treatment business in the oil and gas sector next, LOL. With 1000s of huge massive working, know to work, years of proven service rigs rusting away in storage yards since the 2014 oil price crash.

That is a Canadian grant that is not worth the paper it is written on. There is nothing new or novel about this claim at all.

Claims(49)
1. A system for liquid treatment comprising:
a membrane screen submerged in a liquid to be treated; and a charged granular precoat media introduced into the liquid and drawn to a surface of the membrane screen by a pressure differential;
wherein the liquid is drawn through the membrane screen and through the precoat media on the surface thereof by the pressure differential, whereby the precoat media removes solids from the liquid.

Membrane is not new. Submerged is not new. Precoating is not new. The method of precoating is not new, a pressure differential is not new, it is all obvious!!! None of it is even close to new or novel?

The US application is not even issued.

And it looks like they had to add everyone's kitchen sink to claim 1 just get the Canadian patent? They have had 8 years to get the US patent, no luck, Nada. I told folks in 2010 Origin Oil and Ecosphere would not good buys/scams. They are both down 98-9.9999% since then. My posts are here on Ihub on those similar techs!!!

Here is what was added to the main claim just to get patent, and I could drive a Mac Truck through that, so can Halliburton!!!

2. A system according to claim 1 wherein the precoat media removes solids from the liquid via one or more of: surface attachment and entrapment.
3. A system according to claim 2 wherein the membrane screen comprises a hollow tube and the liquid is drawn from an exterior of the tube into a bore of the tube by the pressure differential.
4. A system according to claim 3 wherein the membrane screen has a diameter of greater than 5 mm.
5. A system according to claim 1 wherein the charged granular precoat media comprises powder-activated carbon.
6. A system according to claim 1 wherein the charged granular precoat media comprises metal atoms.
7. A system according to claim 1 wherein the charged granular precoat media comprises a metal oxide.
8. A system according to claim 3 wherein the hollow tube is sealed at a first end and the liquid is drawn through the bore to a second end opposing the first sealed end.
9. A system according to claim 3 comprising a plurality of membrane screens arranged in a membrane module, wherein within the membrane module, adjacent membrane screens are spaced apart by at least twice the diameter of each of the membrane screens.
10. A system according to claim 1 comprising a plurality of membrane screens arranged in a membrane module, wherein within the membrane module, adjacent membrane screens are spaced apart by at least 12 mm.
11. A system according to claim 1 comprising a vacuum pump coupled in fluid communication with a downstream side of the membrane screen to thereby create the pressure differential.
12. A system according to claim 11 comprising a froth generator coupled in fluid communication with an upstream side of the membrane screen and configured to create a froth wherein the froth is directed toward an upstream side of the membrane screen for assisting with the removal of solids from the liquid.
13. A system according to claim 12 wherein the froth is introduced on the upstream side of the membrane screen in an upward direction to create a crossflow vector to thereby reduce clogging and buildup of solids on the surface of the charged granular media.
14. A system according to claim 11 comprising a backwash pump coupled in fluid communication with the downstream side of the membrane screen and wherein the system is configurable to a backwash mode, where the vacuum pump is deactivated, the backwash pump is activated and the activated backwash pump configured to pump a backwash liquid from the downstream side of the membrane screen to the upstream side of the membrane screen to thereby remove the precoat media from the surface of the membrane screen.
15. A system according to claim 14 wherein the backwash liquid comprises a treated liquid.
16. A system according to claim 15 comprising a froth generator configured to create a froth and wherein the backwash pump is configured to pump the froth into the liquid on an upstream side of the membrane screen.
17. A system according to claim 16 wherein the backwash liquid comprises the froth.
18. A system according to claim 14 wherein the backwash liquid comprises air.
19. A system according to claim 12 wherein the froth comprises a surfactant.
20. A system according to claim 19 wherein the surfactant is one of a cationic and anionic surfactant for creating a charged air bubble in the froth.
21. A system according to claim 19 wherein the surfactant is non-ionic.
22. A system according to claim 1 comprising a plurality of membrane modules each comprising a plurality of membrane screens, at least two adjacent membrane modules spaced apart by at least 100 mm.
23. A system according to claim 3 comprising:
a plurality of membrane screens; and
a housing coupled to the membrane screens comprising:
a base configured to receive a base of each of the membrane screens; and
an upper support coupled to a top of each of the membrane screens and configured to permit vibration of the membrane screens.
24. A system according to claim 23 wherein the upper support comprises a plurality of tie lines forming a gird, each tie line comprising openings and wherein the tubular membrane screens project through the openings.
25. A system according to claim 1 wherein the membrane comprises a plurality of generally planar membrane sheets oriented at an incline from vertical and at least two adjacent membrane sheets are spaced by at least 50 mm.
26. A system according to claim 1 wherein the membrane screen has a pore size of 1 micron or greater.
