I was thinking lozenge awhile back but same issue with swallowing and systemic absorption. Interestingly though there are medical liquid adhesion's for the mouth and throat with suspended anesthetics that act as a sticker to allow the anesthetic time to do it's job. I would think once a deal is struck and if needed BP could address this with the FDA.

I was wondering if a viscous Brilacidin formulation would effectively increase the duration of mucosal contact and further improve outcomes. Viscous lidocaine vs lidocaine spray comes to mind. I think the numbing action of viscous lidocaine on mucosal tissue is about twice as long as the spray. One reference says Viscous lidocaine is formulated with lidocaine, amaranth, methylparaben, propylparaben, and carboxymethylcellulose. Might be worth consideration.
