The crew of a Cathay Pacific airplane flying from San Francisco to Hong Kong reported seeing the Hwasong-15 break apart at the end of its test flight.

But I have to question if the Cathay Pacific crew even knew what they saw if they did! How would they know Korea even launched a missile?

Let me take a stab at that:
The crew saw something. They reported it. Location and time were correlated with the NK missile launch. All other possibilities were legitimately discarded. Then the Cathay Pacific crew knew what they saw. works for me.
