Health: yes, sooo sloooow.

I was pretty stunned when I go this mail on July 19th stating that they might get around to updating, integrating, announcing and supporting this app sometime between October and January. There is some industry conventional wisdom that I learned from a peer that states that "slippage of any scheduled goal will occur in as a function of the increments used to discuss that the goal's schedule." I other words, if we're talking of delivery this app in a range from October to January, we're talking about more than a quarter year time window, hence schedule slippage will likely be at least a quarter year.

Sounds silly, but in this industry, it's amazing how often this maxim holds true.

Ultimately, though, I still can't comprehend why they've been sitting on this app for over 3 years now. It was a real industry leader when it was created, it really could have helped to create some synergy and credibility for the ABCNews business. Oh, don't get me started...

Anyway, what do you think - late Spring/early Summer 2001, perhaps?
