Nimby, thanks and yes I read that post. Quarantine situations and time frames are different between various life cycles of the silkworm. Eggs, cocoons and adult silkworms have different criteria. I worked at a facility that imported exotic butterflies and moths from Malaysia and other tropical local for display in our conservatory.
We had to jump though hoops at the USDA, ODA and Fish and Wildlife but we complied with all the regulations in time and retrofitted our rearing and display facilities to satisfy all. It took many months and there were twists and turns along the way that is why I understand our hold up in Vietnam.
The cocoons were flown in from a supplier, quarantined in the Port of Los Angeles then they were flown to us here in Ohio. I believe we also imported eggs.
Once they get the process and procedures in place it should be no problem.
