#79268 RE: rustaboy #79267

On first read, my favorite quote was regarding the NO R/S!!!

But on the second time thru it this little tidbit caught my attention:

Development of Viva's Opera operating system app for Smart TV's.

I thought, “opera eh?? I know of its existence as a web browser, but I don’t use it”

So naturally I looked a little deeper to find out more info.

First stop: Wikipedia
Quick aside before I get started: Haters may hate on Wikipedia, but in the not so distant future, Wikipedia will resemble something pretty darn close to the Encyclopedia Galactica. And oh boy, whenever they decide they had enough with the non-profit racket, you better make sure you get in early on it!!

Anyway, so Wikipedia tells me that the Opera webbrowser is developed by a Norwegian company called Opera Software and that it has 350 million users worldwide. Ok… that sounds promising.

Here’s the relevant piece regarding Opera Software (again from our very helpful friends at Wikipedia):

On 10 February 2016 a group of Chinese investors offered $1.2 billion USD ($8.31 per share) to buy the company,[5] though the deal reportedly did not meet regulatory approval.[6] On 18 July 2016 Opera announced it had sold its browser, privacy and performance apps, and its name to Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I Limited Partnership (a consortium of Chinese investors including Qihoo 360) was reported for an amount of $600 million USD.[6] The transaction for sale of Opera's consumer business was approved on 31 October, 2016 by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.[7] On 4 November, 2016, Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I L.P. completed the acquisition.[8]

Now I wanted to learn more about this Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund I L.P, so I went to their website (it is based in china, but luckily they have an ENGLISH translation button. So I start poking around there to see what I can find.

And what did I find… well… if the hint JF dropped about Opera in today’s PR has any legs to it (which I believe it does given all of the other hidden alliances and partnerships being forged behind the scenes), we may have yet another massive piece of the puzzle coming…

Here are some of Golden Brick Capital Private Equity Fund’s other holdings:

Now just take a minute to review these companies and what they do. Any guesses where I’m going with this???
