Of course there was also the time when I was making a killing shorting CNBC momo-mentons, and a bunch of us in a short selling thread whacked a company with the ticker ADSP..
Ouch.. Went from .50 to $10.. so I put all the chips on it. Even an uneducated clown like me could see this company was an utter $0 at some point in the very very near future. Hype, and alot of CNBC misinformation and the stock opened over 20 the next day.. CNBC it seems confused it with a profitable company and the rest was history. The stock topped out at 55 or 65.. Shit- at that point it really didnt matter since I was already considering bankruptcy : )
I got lucky.. My broker was small and knew they were going to take a hit so they let me ride for an entire 24 hours. I know some folks that got stopped out and lost millions of life savings and went belly up. Ill never forget DLJ direct bought some friends back right smack at the HOD.. OUCH!
I covered at $13 the following day.. Took a small lose.. and that is my wildest experience thus far on wallstreet! but always expect that unexpected!
...sorry- someone put a quarter in me tonight. Damned OPC-3???
