I am not convinced regarding your theory of market manipulation. With the spread being 5 % it is costly to manipulate for market-makers. After all they have different financial interests and want to make as much money as possible for themselves. Do you think the following trades at the bid represented market-maker manipulation and that there were no shareholders selling these shares?
