Cassandra ... ECLIPSE and IFE ...

heybrad: I don't believe EDIG has any relationship at all with Toyota nor do I believe that anyone at F-T is talking about putting the HD1213 in new cars as OEM equipment. IMO, FF and RP are simply exploiting the fact that Toyota has an investment in F-T to try to tout the significance of the Eclipse order as being much more significant than it is.

You just might want to re-think that, and here`s why ...

(SAN DIEGO, CA - January 7, 2002) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG) and Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten announced today that the latest in automotive infotainment systems will be unveiled this week at the 2002 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 8 - 11. The companies have collaborated for several months to develop and deliver state-of-the-art automotive OEM and aftermarket infotainment systems integrating the latest digital audio, voice recognition, data storage, video, and wireless Internet technologies for sale under the Eclipse brand name. The Eclipse MP-3 Changer will be on display in the main hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) at booth #4937 and e.Digital's booth at LVCC, South 3-4, at booth #13338.

"e.Digital brings to the fore engineering talent specializing in developing and integrating unique advanced technologies," said Mark Kamino, Executive Vice President of Eclipse. "This collaboration highlights our ability to meet growing market demand for advanced, powerful automotive infotainment systems through partnering our Eclipse aftermarket and Fujitsu Ten OEM development teams with e.Digital, a state-of-the-art technology integrator and application developer."

Vannin Gale, Senior R&D/Marketing Manager, of Eclipse, added, "e.Digital is on the cutting edge of digital convergence and will be instrumental in providing complete system integration with interactive video, navigation, music, web e-mail, and infotainment capability for both OEM and aftermarket automotive products. This collaboration provides an immediate opportunity to deliver fully integrated digital data management solutions, as an option or upgrade to our already substantial installed customer base."

In March 2002, we announced that we had entered into a Development and Manufacturing Agreement with Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten ("Eclipse"), a car stereo company. Under the agreement, e.Digital receives NRE fees for design and development services, as well as revenues for the manufacture and delivery of Eclipse-branded audio products. Specifically, the agreement states that e.Digital will provide Eclipse with engineering services to integrate file management and compressed audio management technology designed by e.Digital into an advanced automotive audio system.

ECLIPSE BY FUJITSU TEN - For this automotive stereo manufacturer, we are developing an automotive stereo system using a hard disk drive and our MicroOS technology. Users will be able to store and organize thousands of tracks on the unit, which is removable and plugs into a standard Eclipse head unit mounted in a vehicle. Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is 51% owned by Toyota Motor Corporation.

It would appear to me that their, "already substantial installed customer base", has now become even more substantial !! ... and do you really think Toyota isn`t calling the shots here ?? ... what car manufacturer do you think will be first to factory-install the ECLIPSE unit ??

Also, the following is taken from the 7-1-03 CC, and transcribed to the best of my ability ...

FRED FALK:

"The ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten is an in-car entertainment system designed to replace the disc-changer. With a 40-Gb removable hard drive, the ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten will store and playback MP3 files and allow the users to record FM transmissions with our unique "Write-Back" feature to capture content already broadcast.

Planned enhancements include VoiceNav (voice navigation), wireless connectivity, video playback, game support and many other applications. Through the development cycle of this product, its scope has expanded to have broader applications encompassing a wider range of devices than initially planned. The feedback we have received from ECLIPSE indicates a strong interest from OEM partners and retailers, alike. Even with the heavily expanded design perameters, the products are scheduled for delivery this quarter. The ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten product will be one of the first of its kind to market. This early market penetration combined with our expertise, proprietary design and partners, ECLIPSE and Toyota, provide a strong position for us in an untapped marketplace."

ROBERT PUTNAM:

"I think the ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten product has the more defined path forward, as Fred alluded to in his comment, in that we already have 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation plans to implement under their direction."

**********

"Regarding IFE content... APS has an agreement with 20th Century Fox, so unless Boyer is able to sign up additional studios, major motion picture content would be exclusive to that studio."

With regard to our IFE device ... I would think that if we can sell Mr. Levin on the secure delivery of his Company`s content, then we just might be able to sell the other movie companies on the idea as well ... seems to me he could be rather influential based on his position in the WAEA ... and won`t they all be attending the same meeting in early September ??

According to Harvey Applebaum, Vice President, Non-Theatrical Sales; and Julian Levin, Executive Vice President, Non-Theatrical and Digital Exhibition at Twentieth Century Fox, "We have been in discussions with APS on this cutting-edge technology. It has great potential to provide a new and complementary method of delivering In-Flight Entertainment to passengers. It also has the capability to provide entertainment options for children."
