Not sure I agree with what you are suggesting. If I understand the coinbase website, they are simply putting a temporary trading freeze while the new software updates are put into effect. The only reason to pull your bitcoin is if you needed to trade it tomorrow or spend it tomorrow.
Everything I have read is that they are going with the soft fork which is the one coinbase is favoring/supporting.
