They issue press releases not because of the need to pacify a few shareholders but because they need to continually use investors to churn the share price to pacify the whales and those "others" with a seemingly inexhaustible source of non-disclosed information. Since they have not issued a ticket in 28 years and likely will not issue a ticket anytime soon, they need to issue press releases.
