When you are running the show with all the money in the world, developing a whole new industry, you will want to be top secret all the way, but if you are a small player trying to break out as a major player, you will need to put out some kind of product that customers will buy, and maybe offer upgrades later, because you need the revenues. GE doesn't need to be net profitable just the AM product. They've been around for about a hundred fifty years, and will not go out of business just because they didn't put out an AM software package.

Big difference. Also if GE worked with Sigma to develop the technology, why wouldn't the endless resources of GE have come out with a similar technology for their own purposes?

Can Musk just keep developing the electric car with endless shareholder money until it's the perfect car? NO, they have to sell some cars.

...But I am with you, the company should try to explain the software improvements somehow now, it is not normal to announce something without clearly explaining it?
And on the other hand GE and all other AM applicants do it in the same way...everything top secret...no any details, hiding everything...
