#3496 RE: frogdreaming #3490

Frogdreaming....Of course anything is in the realm of possibilities in an infinite Universe....

However there are at least three major areas DNAP is building a solid basis for being able to defend it's patents.

First, DNAP's patents on ADMIXMAP represent intellectual assets that just may be very difficult to duplicate, even given the disclosure of all the mathematical formulas used in the patent. A scramble of "stolen" formulas do not guarantee correctly written code to make the discoveries. It's just not the formulas but the vision and paradigm shift that makes them useful and powerful... Big Pharma will have difficult times in doing this at this point and gives DNAP plenty of time to build it's position in the (multiple) markets.

Secondly, DNAP's patents on the 8000+ special AIM's (SNP's) and other rare and significant genetic markers that DNAP owns cannot be duplicated. These are "the first to the treasures" kind of discoveries and should be easily defended in court...

Third, the strategy to develop "DNA test kits" is being based on these "special SNP's"....so again, pharma will have a hard time duplicating (or "stealing") these...

It may only be in the "drug discovery" applications that pharma may have other avenues to compete in, whether or not they "steal" any of DNAP's patents. But this again comes back to the patents above on the "markers", which should be easy to prove and defend, at least technically.

Will this stop big pharma from trying....maybe not...? Should DNAP worry at this point? I don't think so...

As far as pharma's lack of interest...? At this time it's more like a lack of vision...! And this lack of vision will give DNAP the opportunity to solidify their products and marketing and establish themselves as a front-running cutting edge biotech company.. By then it could be just a little too late...!

Of course that is JMHO.

God Bless and take care.
