Howdy, K2. It is extremely humid here. I saw a school of fish swim by my window just now. In this kind of air mass, the heat is oppressive. The weather comedian says we should have some drier but hotter air by Thursday. I like pea soup, but this is ridiculous.

Your basement aroma is probably caused by some mold or another, possibly one of the mildews. Molds like wet, dark environments, and basements are heaven for them. I don't think I would worry too much about them, but if you are, try a Chlorox solution on the walls and floor. It will bleach anything of color, though, and the basement will remind you of a swimming pool. Lysol would be preferable in my mind, and may work better as it will eliminate the odor of mold and replace it with hospital (if you prefer that to swimming pool).

High temp in London yesterday was 100F. Those poor folks were suffering to the extent that beer sales were at record levels. Those of us with experience in such things go to icewater, not beer. Beer tastes good, though. We should count our blessings that this is not another drought year for us in the northeast. Funny. If you average last year and this year, you get two average years (LOL). At least it isn't 100 degrees here. The dewpoint this morning was 68 and so was the temperature.

Stay in the air conditioning if you can.
