In the past, I saw scenarios played out:
(a) GDXJ/JNUG moved up when GOLD moved up
(b) GDX/JNUG moved very slowly until GOLD established a solid floor for a month or so, then GDXJ/JNUG kind of reached in synch with GOLD. Once GOLD couldn't move further, GDXJ/JNUG fell even before GOLD did. GDX/GDXJ/JNUG/NUGT are last to move up, and first to go down.
$GLD moves with $GLD, but you don't even get 1% every day. So, many don't wanna go with $GLD. Miners move up if GOLD can move up and stay there for 3 months, as miners' profit increase. Miners don't make much if GOLD moves 1% one day, stays there for a week, then only to lose 1% later. Two weeks, 3 weeks time frames don't effect GDX/GDXJ.
