I believe that is intra-day shorting and covering by the market makers as they ply their trade.... That has nothing to do with short positions held overnight... GLTA

Yes, why is that so challenging to understand? Daily short volume doesn't ever show the 2nd leg of the transaction, the second leg is the cover that occurs within minutes. This has been explained to you times now...

Maybe try calling FINRA for an explanation instead of spouting BS ;-)

That's why the only true source for short positions is the FINRA bi-monthly short data. The daily short volume reports are meaningless.
