We had a grain mill, one you drive trucks and wagons to unload to an underground auger.
Was walking by the auger one night and heard something in the bottom, auger is about 4 feet down that carries the grain up into the bins.
Got a flashlight to see, skunk in the bottom of the pit.
If I didn't get him out my Uncles would start in the morning without even looking.
Found an 8 foot 2x8 and shoved it into the pit. Was watching for a bit but he couldn't quite make it up the incline. He was half way up and I scooped his butt to get the rest of the way out. He got scared, reeled and bit my thumb.
He made it out of the pit and I had no worries. He never hopped on his front legs
Needless to say I hope he is free today(well, probably gone by now, this was 15 years ago)
Yikes, wife is a nurse and she rushed me to the damn hospital for a little nick on the finger. Rabies shots $3500 later.
All animals count!!!!!!!!!!
(I know what you're going to say.......no gloves......spur of the moment)
