Free radial causes a lot of problems and it can damage DNAs, genes, proteins and other large molecules, which cause a variety of diseases including Azhilmer. But direct cause of Azhilmer is probably due to loss or reduction of underlying regulatory networks. It appears that PKC located upstream of the regulatory network. So far Dr. Alkon' work is pretty solid and pins down key regulators.

------------
"It is accepted fact that the underlying cause of Alzheimers is long term exposure to oxidative stress (free radicals)."
--------------

Then challenge your own statement, Google "the underlying cause of Alzheimer's"

I made it to page 3 without seeing the word "oxidative" one single time in the titles or excerpts. I saw quite a few other theories though.

Perhaps the answer lies in a ~20 year old drug who's patent protection for Alzheimer's expired while it sat on the shelf. It's possible, anything is possible, probable is another story though.

I agree,

However, Alzheimers is a degenerative disease, so this approach will become exhausted and overwhelmed at some point.

But there is also a possibility that there will be negative side effects before this happens.
