RE: euterpe1: Growing population.
Hey E! Long time, no post!
I have to admit that I have not thought that much about the aging population, other than I am planning on not having any Social Security by the time I retire. If I do get it, it will be a bonus.
One sector that I am sure that has analyzed the aging population would be marketing firms. I forgot where I read it, but here in America, we seem to go through very specific spending and saving habits as we go through life. And I think when it comes to the boomer population, there are going to be entering a phase where they are going to start spending and giving away their accumulated wealth. Now, what percentage that is of the overall spending of the rest of the population, I have no idea. At any rate, I think this is why there is alot of focus on this group of people.
299 million people? Higher than I thought, but after poking around on the Internet a little, that seem close enough for gov't work! :o)
