I asked TDAmeritrade about the B shares and received this response:
"The shares entered the account in a corporate action (dividend or spin-off.) The security was marked by the issuer with a restriction that prohibits the sale of the stock until the restriction is removed. Please check with the issuer on the type of restriction, and the required holding time they placed on the security before it can be cleared of the restriction."
