I'm sure no one at all defended their product designs with Barrett or Otellini at the other end of the table. Barrett is a manufacturing guy, and Otellini is a finance guy. They have no business arguing with design guys about how to design a microprocessor.
I would bet against that. I left before Barrett took the helm, but I can tell you with some certainty that one doesn't get to be CEO at Intel without the capability of doing just that. The corporate culture hasn't changed that much since Grove retired.
