I'm with Ameritrade. In my experience a wire transfer is quicker than an ACH transfer which takes 3-5 days to process. Is there something I'm missing?

Depending on how much $ you have in your brokerage acct already versus how much you are ACH transferring it may not all be available immediately though. Example - if you have 5k in brokerage (invested or cash) and want to transfer an additional 10k, only 5k of that 10k would be available for investment immediately and the rest would be ~3 business days. Wire transfer will be available immediately regardless of your brokerage account balance.
