You may be more correct than you realize. Keeping in mind that it can be 5 years from product conception to mainstream life, who do you think was in charge when netburst got the CEOs blessings? It was Andy Grove. Who blessed RamBus? Same one. Who was in charge when Banias was proposed? Banias lead to Dothan & Yonah and was the foundation for Core 2 Duo. It was Craig Barrett. So did Barrett cause the problem or fix it? He wasn't perfect but give him his due.
