#28983 RE: jay14 #28982

I'm reassured you know how it could be confusing. I take it you agree that it shouldn't be confusing.

Following the gold, I see this, among other things, to which I have added emphasis to highlight my confusion, which I think is shared by many:

TRUDEF™ Overview

TRUDEF is TMMI's proprietary digital video compression technology. TRUDEF offers users enhanced image quality, reduced bandwidth utilization and digital media storage requirements.

TMMI owns outright VDK SoftVideo fractal compression technology that utilizes fractal video compression and decompression algorithms originally licensed from Iterated System Inc..

The term fractal was coined by mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot in 1975, "the Latin verb frangere means to break to create irregular fragments." Credit for the first practical fractal compression system goes to Dr. Alan Sloan & Dr. Michael Barnsley, both mathematicians, who patented the technology in 1987.

Using the image itself as the codebook, fractal compression reduces irrelevant and redundant image data so less bandwidth and storage space is needed to manage high quality video.

TMMI is currently integrating this technology with its own TRUDEF suite of products.

The company’s technology development is in advanced research mode and private demonstrations of TRUDEF are being scheduled for prospective strategic partners and potential customers.

If:

Perhaps VDK line really means VDK 1-4 SHHHH don't tell anyone, okay????.

Then it would seem wise to update the website so that no one concludes that Tmmi has VDK 2 based on the fact that they say they do.

And quite apart from that, if Tmmi's compression technology is entirely unrelated to the previous work of Iterated, Mandelbrot and others, they should stop saying that it

"utilizes fractal video compression and decompression algorithms originally licensed from Iterated System Inc."

They probably should also stop listing VDK codec development work as their sole asset in their financials.

Agreed?
