SECTION #3:

Furthermore, the promotion of new and renewable forms of energy forms part of the Albanian policy. As in other countries, due to market and regulatory failures, as well as higher investment costs, renewable energy investments are supported through State intervention in the form of varied support measures. The Albanian authorities are now amending existing support measures in order to provide a more accurate design of the support schemes. Particularly, the Albanian authorities intend now to promote solar, wind and biomass sources through additional financial support.

Thanks Wakl for finding and sharing this. While I am encouraged bu this sort of language: "Additionally, the new draft law envisages setting a favourable fiscal treatment for the promotion of renewable energy sources" I think we have to recognize that the entire energy sector in Albania seems to be a convoluted mess. How things play out with PSPW is really difficult to untangle, but I remain hopeful that when it is all sorted out we will have something to be happy about.

In the meantime, I remain of the belief that the Albanian piece is only part of something much bigger. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is so. GLTA
