I understand that... Anyway, that's only in the event that you die without heirs. If I'm dead, I'm incapable of owning anything anyway, so that's irrelevant. The gov can't just take your stuff for no good reason. A U.S. Gov official can't just come to me and demand that I take off my shoes saying it's gov property. That would be illegal, like the Gov stealing profits from FNMA.
I could also argue that we allow the gov to govern us, so it only has as much power as we allow them to.
