Ksquared and Justin, KK's motto should be 'Bet you can't eat just one'...I for one am glad the nearest KK is about 60 miles away. They are good though. I can see where they could be addictive, though.

Protein Power Colt, also...

UT!

I'm guessing that T stands for Texas!

So you and our esteemed Coltie are Longhorns!... Hook 'em! Please consider joining us on Colt's NCAA board.

http://investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=1293

greg has joined us. He's a Hokie! My beloved niece/goddaughter's alma mater.

We also have NLionGuy... an affable chap... despite the fact he hails from the dread Penn State... who the heck let those cretins into the Big Ten. ;-)

I am completely and totally Big Tencentric... had no idea what a big deal college football was until I wound up at Michigan.

My freshman year (1969) was Bo Schembechler's first year as coach. I was there for his first meeting with his mentor and head coach Woody Hayes of Ohio State. We WON! 24-12! Even my father whose second degree was from Illinois said it was the best college football game he had seen to date. (If you knew the relationship I had with my father... this was MAJOR! praise.)

Protein Power is the name of a diet by Eades and Eades... book of the same name... boils down to 60% (or more) protein with vegetables... very little bread, rice, potatoes and similar ilk. I dropped 32 pounds on it very slowly over 2 years ago. Am holding at about 8 lbs above the lowest point... 5'9-1/2" (or thereabout) and 160 lbs... Mostly because I've fallen into bad habits like eating too late and more carbs than I should allow myself plus ice cream on sale at the beginning of the summer. I've since cut out the ice cream and am back to stopping eating after 6:30 p.m.

Got to get out and walk more. Afraid of bears and the traffic for the 1/2 mile it takes me to get to the no traffic roads.

Protein Power was recommended to me by one of my fabulous doctors. She has a number of advanced degrees. One of which is a doctorate in biochemistry from...

The University of Michigan. You have to be smart to get through that program...

She says the diet is good science. Real body chemistry. In a nutshell, there are two digestive hormones. Insulin and glucagen. Insulin breaks down the sugar you take in. Glucagen goes into your fat reserves to break down the sugar stored there for energy. If you take away the carbs and feed yourself protein it pumps up the glucagen and keeps down the insulin, kick starting your metabolism.

Your body also needs insulin to make cholesterol... keep the insulin low... keep the cholesterol low.

I start my day with some kind of eggs and sausage... no toast (except on weekends when I have one piece of Russian rye with my steak and eggs). My cholesterol is fabulous. Ratio is 1.3.
Normal risk for heat attacks and strokes in women is over 2.5... half the risk is 1.5. <ggg>
