of course you are right if you look at it as the outcome from 1(one) BK !
I'd like to add, that, if you add INTEREST for 8 years, this result will be much better, let's suppose conservatively 3 % p.a. this would sum up to a whopping $ 10.670 b, 4 & p.a. would add $ 14.743 b to your sum !
As I was writing and you are citing, in my post I was playing with numbers, thinking of results coming out of the 2 (two) BK's (WMIIC and WMI), which, IMHO ingeniously, got after the motion, dated October 1, 2008 )* , on October 3, 2008 the following court order:
"..(A)n order has been entered in this case directing the procedural consolidation and joint administration of the chapter 11 cases of Washington Mutual, Inc. and WMI Investment Corporation. The docket in Case No. 08-12229 (MFW) should be consulted for all; matters affecting this case ..."
