The Minneapolis area is(was) a hotbed for medical devises. St. Jude has a big office near me in Plymouth, Mn and headquartered in St Paul. and the Medtronic HQ was about 10 miles from me, until the merger with Dublin-based Covidien, mainly for tax purposes. There was a third about 2 miies from me bought out in like 2008, forget the name. Growing up in the 60's it was all 3M, Honeywell, General Mills and Cargill but medical devices really did job growth wonders here. Those medical device growth jobs may be over with here.
