Obviously no one explained to his speech writer that you are not supposed to attack your opponent during the dinner.
Mild jabs are okay, and expected. It's a kind of roast. But the speakers are supposed to know not to go too far.
The trouble is, Tump ALWAYS goes too far, and NEVER knows when to stop. No doubt in his normal life, people stopped calling him on his excesses decades ago, simply because he was the boss and he had the money. But he's playing in a different league now.
