I can't say that for sure because there is no evidence to support it or deny it. It is just as likely that Mel Watt and Obama are simply "of like mind" when it comes to the subject of the GSEs in that they both agree on the same pathway. To be completely fair, we don't even really know Obama's full position outside of what he has said in public speeches. Perhaps more documentation will help with that.
To be honest, I just don't know what the relationships are like at the government level. More documentation will help to reveal what those relationships are like.
However, all that being said...the FHFA has clearly breached its duty as Conservator by taking part in the NWS and failing in its mandate to preserve and conserve. It is also clearly guilty of breach of the 2008 contract.
If you can't prove it, you can't win it in a court of law. So, I am focusing on what we can prove. We can PROVE the FHFA's breaches. If we can one day prove the POTUS's involvement, great...but I'm not going to make investment choices based on an accusation.
