#67680 RE: Allan_Robert #67678

Original plant took two years, including testing

Does anyone know how long it took to build the last one and how far are they from completion.

Alliance Tobacco built the plant in one year, and then it took another year to debug.

According to David Schmitt, who worked on the machine and is now Hemp Inc.’s chief operating officer, it took the German maker, Tamafa, a year to build the $15 million machine system, a year to install it in North Carolina for Alliance, and a year to debug it because it was originally engineered for hemp, not kenaf.

I wrote about this quote on June 9, 2016 in the following post:

But here's the thing, HEMP wasn't building a plant from scratch, but was moving and reassembling a previously operating plant.

Now, 1 1/2 years after HEMP got the permits to reassemble in March, 2015, the equipment still isn't ready for testing.

You might also read this post from May 4, where I note that when HEMP installed the large silo, there was other equipment on the ground to be installed. That same piece of machinery was still sitting on the ground when Perlowin issued the photos two weeks ago of the smaller, white silo/hopper being installed near the large silo:

Installation of white hopper (I think this smaller silo is the same small, green silo in the images in the prior post):
