I've never been to Europe. I have a lot of English relatives and a standing invitation to visit one of my mother's cousins. No desire to go though there are times when I think I'd like to see London. Not into flying in this day and age... no glamour anymore. Like being on a packed bus with a bunch of filthy peasants. If I can't drive myself... I'm not going.
Other half of the family is German (got here in the 1850s and settled in IL). The area where I live now was settled by Germans and we are still the majority. The hills and woods are supposed to be very much like the Black Forest. It may be why my soul feels so at home here.
Dang you're handy. Want to come up and fix the microwave over the stove. Makes noise but doesn't heat anything. Fortunately I still have my little analog leftover from my apartment days. Unplugged the big one... awfully expensive clock to keep running.
Got to start thinking about wORk... another brutal week ahead I'm sure. Beats the unemployment line.
