SKILLZ: I agree there is no good option

This was a small part of my missive to clients 6 months ago after blasting the megalomaniac Trump years before.

Ok, I'm done. God help us.

What happened to America?

Every election, I think it can’t get any worse. I’ve been wrong for years. We are now plumbing an all time low. Compared to this, Obama and Romney were gods.

Our leading candidates are a carnival barker, a socialist, and a coattail rider.

If Sanders wins and he gets congress to approve his stated policies (certainly no sure thing), we will have a depression as businesses and individuals will curtail production or relocate and a capital exodus ensues. The rhetoric he originally spouted would have had marginal tax rates in high-tax states well above 90%. Now THAT’S disincentive. He’s softened that stance to a mere 75% or so combined rate now.

Then there’s an even bigger danger – the unintelligent, ignorant (that’s different from stupid but the combination is lethal), overrated sack of crap that carries the name Donald Trump.

I blasted Trump 5 years ago in a newsletter, before the unimaginable specter of his candidacy. He is not a good businessman – he is good at bankrupting his investors after he runs out the door with all the money. Ping me if you need a refresher or check out the 2010 Q3 newsletter on my web site. That blurb ended with the line “Con Man…Crook…Hero.” Even more true today. He is the most ridiculous and dangerous candidate I’ve seen in my lifetime. Would I vote for a perennial like Ralph Nader or ……Pat Paulsen ? over him?...in a heartbeat (I just looked – Pat died in 1997…damn). Trump’s election and the thankfully uncertain adoption of his economic policies would also lead to a crash as stupid, massively expensive posturing programs (the wall…really?) coupled with tax cuts would drive us ever faster to the inevitable government credit crisis. If he wins, there should be an exodus of more than capital – I think Canada and Mexico would pay for walls at that point to keep US out. ?

Plus, how could any American do other than hang their head in embarrassment if PT Barnum (alias Der Drumph) becomes POTUS? Shudder to think.

This John Oliver clip is GREAT – watch it:

And then there’s the coattail rider. Without Bill, we never would have heard of Hillary. Does that qualify her to be President? That said, she is closer to the unsatisfied, gaping chasm in the middle that represents MOST OF US than the others.

We need more parties. And soon. But we have for decades now.
