...because Merle lied to so many people for so long that he inadvertently cleaned up the damn shell. This merger was dead in the water two weeks ago, until they came upon that realization.

That could be clearer. You can't clean up a shell in two weeks. And the valuation is still ridiculous. In fact, it's even more ridiculous than it was a year ago.
