I have access to most full text versions of scientific publications. It's a gorgeous day outside and I am out the door. next week when I havetime I will read through some of these papers and post some relevant text (I am not sure if links will work for subscription-only periodicals)

by the way, any other clinicians on this board other than jessellivermore? I am a reproductive endocrinologist in private practice. Back when I was a resident in gerenal OB/GYN before i subspecialized I managed a couple of cases of peripartum DIC secondary to severe preeclampsia and/or placental abruption..the condition is such a conundrum, with both hyper and hypocoaguable risks coexisting (i.e.risk of clotting AND hemmorrhage) you just never knew what to do..do you heparinize for thromboembolism prophylaxis and then increase risk of bleeding, or do you replace factors with FFP, etc. when they are consumed to prophylax (or treat) hemmorrhage. it was such a dilemma - i always felt we were jsut chasing the latest lab values. ultimately it boiled down to supportive care until it ran its course...been ages since I have seen a case now, and i really don;t know what if anythign has changed in DIC management, but ATIII replacement just makes so much sense to me..i really hope it pans out
