Thinking as realistic status quo alternative to big business take over, the Columbian gov/t at very low cost relatively could come in with local-centric values to assist its local citizenry to mine with environmentally sound and safer mechanisms, to adjust what works now (what did/does work before GranColumbia presence), such that people could continue to live off the land and mountain for hundreds of years to come, rather than everything gone, depleted, mountain completely moved, and desolate deserted after just 20 short years. The town currently a national historic site too. Landslides are relatively minor compared with total blasted destruction.
That seems the greater 'Jesus mission' here.
