Perhaps Briscoe's understanding of the data available to him leads to the conclusion that it would be better to drill once ASAP rather than twice over a longer time frame (factors related to cost and time).
As an aside, given enough individual
pieces of information (some factual, some not) it is fairly easy for anyone so disposed or motivated to construct a 'plausible' 'conspiracy theory, or narrative.
IMO, the fact that there is support at these prices and volumes argues against the "there is nothing there" theory. The Market values whatever there is at this point in time to be worth 4 million bucks.
Consider also the implausibility (in my mind) of the recent uptake of shares being "retail", and one has to wonder 'who and why?'.
